Case Study: Private Residence, London
The restoration and refurbishment of this Robert Adam, Grade I-listed townhouse in central London required a deft touch.
The 600-square metre private home took a year to complete.
Drawing on our knowledge of classical architecture, Rag Arts supervised the restoration of the Georgian architecture. Decades of paint and fillers had masked the crispness of the original mouldings and plasterwork.
We oversaw a team of specialist conservators whose task was to strip off centuries of decoration, without damaging wood or plasterwork, to reveal the original egg-and-dart or ogee detailing.
Where a detail had been badly damaged, we were able to create moulds to recreate the original motif. The panelled doors, shutters and the original handrail were also sympathetically restored
